SPARTANBURG,
S.C. - Ryan Traylor pitched a complete-game gem for Spartanburg as the Blue Eagles took Game 1 of a doubleheader with Tennessee 2-0.
Traylor allowed 2 hits, walked none, and struck out 5 in his seven innings of work, finishing the game in just 1 hour and 26 minutes. The Tornado broke up Traylor's perfect game with a leadoff single in the 5th inning, but could only muster 1 more hit the rest of the game.
Spartanburg got significant contributions from Brody Greer and Zac McCarthy at the plate. Greer was 2-for-2 with a run scored. McCarthy was 2-for-3 with a single and a double. McCarthy also had the game's most spectacular defensive play, diving and crashing to the ground to catch a fly ball in left field that appeared headed for the gap.
With the win, Spartanburg improves to 17-12 on the season. Game 2 is scheduled to start at approximately 5:05.
