SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Ryan Traylor allowed one run over six innings to win his third consecutive start and to lead the Spartanburg Blue Eagles to a 3-1 victory over the Carolina Chaos in Central South Carolina Saturday afternoon in game one of a doubleheader.

Traylor, (5-1) who was selected to the All-Star team Thursday night, gave up four hits, walked one, and struck out five Chaos to earn fifth win of the summer which is tops for a Blue Eagle pitcher.

The Blue Eagles jumped out to an early lead in the second inning when right fielder Aaron Preston reached by way of a single and then single handily moved himself around the diamond using his speed. First, Chaos starting pitcher Zachery Secoy balked allowing Preston to take second base. After the balk, Preston stole third and because of a high throw that soared into left field by catcher Cody Mass, Preston trotted home giving the Blue Eagles a 1-0 lead.

The Chaos responded in the bottom half of the inning though when Chaos first baseman Kyle Bowers lead off the inning with a single to left field and later scored as a result of a Brookes Reames triple. Blue Eagle centerfielder Alex Dozier tried to lay out and make a diving catch at the Reames line drive, but ultimately missed the ball which allowed it to roll all the way to the left center fence.

After the Reames triple, Traylor only allowed one hit through the remaining four innings he pitched.

The Blue Eagles went on to score one run in the fourth and one run in the fifth which proved to be all they needed.

The Chaos did threaten in the bottom of the seventh when they loaded the bases off Blue Eagle reliever Ryan Connelly with one out. However, Connelly was able to get Chaos catcher Cody Mass to ground into a 4-6-3 double play to end the ballgame to give him his third save of the season. The Blue Eagles move to 20-15 overall and 12-5 in the division, while the Chaos drop to 10-24 overall and 2-11 in the division.

Game two of the doubleheader is schedule to start at 7:30pm.
