Web Posted June 5, 2010
SPARTANBURG,
S.C. – The Spartanburg Blue Eagles were defeated by the Carolina Chaos 3-1 in game 1 of a doubleheader that began at 5pm at Russell C. King Field in Spartanburg South Carolina.
The Chaos won behind the pitching performance of Zachary Secoy from Delta State University. Secoy pitched four and third shutout innings limiting the Blue Eagles to only 2 hits before his departure. Secoy was relieved by Gardner Webb’s Alex McMahan for one and two thirds an inning, and then Wesley College’s Kyle McGuire who ultimately closed the game and recorded his first save of the season.
BYU and former Dorman standout David Parry started the game for the Blue Eagles. Parry pitched effectively, throwing four and one third of an inning, only allowing three hits and two earned runs. However, Parry walked five guys, most of which made up the two earned runs he allowed.
George Schaefer pitched very effectively for the Blue Eagles coming out of the bullpen. Schaefer came into the game in the top of the fifth and shut down the Chaos hitters. His pitched 2.2, allowing zero hits and only one base runner. This performance comes a day after Schaefer pitched 2/3 inning and allowed three runs. “I was locating a lot better today, said Schaefer. “Sometimes that’s just how it works”.
Game two of the double header will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one.
